Kier Highways SHE issued the warning after the damaged signs were found in the Cumbria area recently. It is believed individuals had planted the blades with the intent to harm road workers arriving to maintain or collect the equipment.

A safety warning has been issued to all operatives or construction workers responsible for maintaining equipment on the road side.

Operatives are advised to:

  • Ensure gloves are always worn on site
  • Complete a detailed visual inspection of all equipment before handling
  • When working at night, handle all equipment in a well-lit area or wear a head torch
  • Report any cases of vandalism or damaged equipment immediately to their line manager

Nationwide Traffic Solutions work across the UK delivering High Speed traffic management on motorways and A roads, installing slip road closures, diversions, temporary signals, portable VMS and special signage. Plus we deliver all Street Works traffic management e.g. road closures, footpath closures, No Parking Cones, barriers and fencing.

Kyle Moy, NTS Area Manager, said: “It is unfortunate that some individuals seek to harm road workers by maliciously damaging equipment. Razor blades cause serious injuries and no employee deserves to be threatened doing their job.

We support the warning to our own staff and other road workers to take extra care when handling equipment and to always wear full PPE – including gloves- on site.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]If you witness any signage being damaged contact the Police immediately.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
