Following the news of plans to improve Coventry’s roads, DJ Vic Munett opened a discussion during her morning show on the crippling congestion affecting the city’s roads.

As well as inviting listeners to vote for their ‘worst road’, Vic took a live call from a member of the public who shared their view on Nuneaton ring road, revealing how some residents avoid travelling at certain times due to the volume of traffic. It was suggested that an outer ring road or one way system would improve driving conditions.

Then it was our Kyle’s turn!

As Nationwide Traffic Solutions deliver a wide range of temporary traffic management measures, from road closures, diversion to contraflow, Kyle discussed how these schemes can be used to relieve congestion effectively rather than make it worse.

When asked to explain what a road traffic management scheme was and if traffic lights added to the problem of congestion, Kyle said: “It depends how they are being used and if they are in the right location. You’ve got to assess what’s going to work best in certain areas. In busy areas you are less likely to use something that is going to impact traffic so heavily.

Kyle agreed with Vic that the country’s roads were struggling to cope: “The busier the roads get the more congested it’s going to be. Some of the traffic calming measures that worked years ago don’t necessarily work anymore.”

When asked if the road network needed reviewing Kyle explained: “100%. I don’t see why it is not being taken as a priority.

“With the volume of traffic on the roads they should be assessed on an annual basis.”

Through the traffic management we deliver, we aim to help our customers complete their road improvement projects with minimal disruption to the public.

Speaking on air Kyle gave a valid example as he said: “I am pretty sure that people would rather a road be closed overnight so it can be completely ripped up and re-laid so it’s in a good condition rather than having to dodge in and out of potholes and risk damage to their cars.”

Well done Kyle![/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]To hear Kyle in action visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p067s703
